SLII® (1-Day) for Financial Industry — Flexing Your Leadership Style Appropriately
An FTS Recognised full-day workshop for team leaders in the financial industry in Singapore.
FTS Recognized
6.5 CPD hours
Full Day
Situational leadership helps managers adapt the direction and support they provide to each team member. The right approach depends on the person’s competence and commitment for a specific goal or task. Therefore, effective leaders avoid using the same leadership style in every situation.
This one-day SLII® course in Singapore equips financial-industry leaders with a practical framework for diagnosing development needs and adapting their approach. Participants learn the four SLII® leadership styles and practise matching them to different team situations. In addition, they build advisory and coaching skills for setting goals, giving direction, providing support and improving performance conversations.

What is SLII® — and why does it matter for financial industry team leaders?
SLII® — Situational Leadership II® — is one of the most widely used leadership frameworks in the world. Its core insight is deceptively simple: the most effective leaders don’t have one style. They read where each team member is in their development — competence and commitment combined — and adapt their approach accordingly. Too much direction stifles high performers. Too little leaves developing team members adrift. Getting that calibration right, consistently, across a diverse team, is one of the hardest practical skills in leadership.
This workshop adapts the SLII® framework specifically for financial industry teams — with case studies and role plays drawn from banking and advisory contexts. You’ll leave with the diagnostic skills, the four leadership styles, and the coaching conversations to drive performance across every type of team member you lead.

Who should attend this workshop?
Team Leaders in the financial services industry
Branch managers, team heads, and senior RMs with direct reports
Leaders managing diverse, intergenerational, or hybrid teams
What will you walk away with?
Lead and manage team performance through agile, adaptive leadership conversations — moving from one-size-fits-all management toward a deliberate, person-specific approach.
Lead situationally by giving team members the right support or direction at the right time — based on accurately diagnosing their development level for each goal, not their overall seniority.
Diagnose the gap between over-supervision and under-supervision — and understand how both damage performance, engagement, and retention in different ways.
Apply the 3 Skills of SLII® — setting SMART goals aligned to business objectives, diagnosing competence and commitment accurately, and matching and flexing your leadership style in real time.
Lead performance coaching conversations with greater confidence — using structured coaching techniques that drive accountability, skill development, and sustainable improvement.
What does the program cover?
Leadership Foundations
- Strategy and business planning for team leaders — understanding how your team’s performance connects to broader organizational and business goals in a financial services context.
- Challenges of leading and coaching virtual and hybrid teams — the specific adjustments required when your team isn’t physically co-located, and how to maintain visibility and accountability remotely.
Core Leadership Capabilities
- Leading diverse and intergenerational teams — understanding the different values, communication preferences, and motivational drivers across generations in today’s financial services teams.
- Leadership Behavior Assessment (LBA II) self-assessment — a structured reflection on your current leadership style tendencies, where you default under pressure, and where you have the most room to flex.
Applying the SLII® Model
- Understanding the SLII® framework in depth — the four development levels, the four leadership styles, and how they map onto real team members and real goals in your day-to-day.
- Over-supervision vs under-supervision — the costs of each, how to recognize the signs, and how to recalibrate deliberately.
- The four leadership styles (Directing, Coaching, Supporting, Delegating) — practiced through scenarios drawn from financial industry team dynamics.
The 3 Skills of SLII®
- Setting SMART goals aligned to business objectives — translating organizational targets into individual development goals specific enough to diagnose progress and coach improvement.
- Diagnosing competence and commitment — the two dimensions to assess separately for each team member on each goal, and the common diagnostic traps leaders fall into.
- Matching and flexing leadership styles — the practical skill of choosing the right style for each situation and shifting as team members develop over time.
Coaching for Performance
- Coaching mindset and techniques — shifting from telling to asking, building accountability through questions, and creating the psychological safety that makes people willing to be honest about where they’re struggling.
- Practice sessions with financial industry case studies and real-time feedback — applying everything learned in structured role plays with peers, coached by momenta’s facilitators.
Why attend this workshop?
Foundational clarity
Most leaders know they should adapt their style — few have a structured model that makes it systematic. SLII® gives you a precise framework for diagnosing where each team member is, and clear language for what you should do differently. It replaces gut instinct with disciplined observation.
